Love Relationship
Do doctors allowed to develop love relationship with his/her patient?
Are there any regulations from hospital prohibit doctors from developing love relationship with his patient? Does medical school discuss this issue with med students?
Let say if a doctor is working in a government funded hospital, and he has develop love relationship – from doctor patient relationship developed into lovers relationship, providing they are both single, and both agreed to get together, is the doctor violated any hospital regulation?
Do you encourage such relationship? Why and why not. Please discuss.
Current patients: Sexual contact that occurs concurrent with the patient-physician relationship constitutes sexual misconduct… At a minimum, a physician’s ethical duties include terminating the patient-physician relationship before initiating a dating, romantic, or sexual relationship with a patient.

Obviously the relationship should be discouraged for the folowing reasons:
1. Violates the Code of Ethics
2. Gradual erosion of physician neutrality
3. Perception of patient treated as “special”
4. Disclosure of confidential information about other patients
5. Patient gains undue influence over physician
6. Extended clinic visits which deprive other patient of prompt care
7. Can lead to sexual harassment
8. Physician can be sued and the damages collected are huge
